Admit it, if you have a childish sense of humor like me, the name “Blue Dicks” is going to make you laugh. In polite society, I always refer to them with their other common name, “Wild Hyacinth.” By whichever name, these are some of the most charming spring flowers on our hillsides, and provide a sweet nutritional source for humans and other critters.
